I’m a professional journalist working for a community newspaper by day (and, of course, sometimes by nights and weekends). By any free moments, however, I’m just a geeky gal who likes to talk about the sci-fi and fantasy stuff I love. Speaking of stuff I love, there will likely be a lot of Star Trek, other science fiction shows, literature and other geekery featured here. Not all at once. Well, most of the time I’ll try and avoid tackling it all at once.
Originally hailing from Maple Ridge, B.C. Canada, I’ve also lived in Montreal, QC and Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. I’ve recently moved to Red Deer, Alberta. I’ve come to love Alberta. This surprises me beyond measure.
My geek cred mostly revolves around the sci-fi genre and fantasy literature. I’ve been a Star Trek fan since I was three. And I prefer Trekker over Trekkie but as long as you don’t mix up Star Wars and Star Trek we’ll be fine. I love both, I just don’t think you should mix them up.
My opinions as presented on this blog are my own and have nothing to do with my work or my employer. I am open for freelance gigs of a geeky nature and would be happy to provide writing samples or resume information if you DM me on Twitter, @vspaterson.
